Squirrel vs. Sunflower

Squirrel Attack

My wife grew some sunflowers this year and near the end of the growing season, a friendly squirrel began to visit and relieve us of the flower heads. I captured the above picture of our friend the squirrel taking a break from actually mowing down the top of the sunflower prior to its removal from the stem.

Below is a photo that Abby took of that same squirrel with his quarry on a post. As he munches, petals fly and we mourn the loss of our flowers. Yesterday I pulled the ~18 head-less stalks from our garden.

Scary Tarsier Video

tarsier I’m a big fan of Tarsiers. Most of my love for these animals has come from images I have found online.

After countless minutes browsing Tarsier images over the past few years, I have finally found a video of one of these little critters! What I thought were cute little furballs turned out to be bloodthirsty monsters and are obviously extremely dangerous! If you value your life you’ll stay away from these “adorable” primates.

Given the choice between being in a cage with a starving lion or an average Tarsier…I’d choose the lion any day. Check out the video and be prepared to crap your pants from fear.

Tarsiers are threatened (a.k.a. Conservation Dependant) animals found in the Philippines, Sulawesi, Borneo, and Sumatra have been said to have the tail of a rat, legs of a frog, sticky fingers of a gecko, rotating head of an owl, ears of a bat and the face of the baby. These primates are blessed with the largest eye-to-head ratio over any other mammal. For those interested, here are some other stats:

They have long legs, short bodies, and rounded heads that can be rotated through 180º. Their faces are short, and the eyes, their most striking feature, are large and goggling. The ears are large, membranous, and almost constantly in motion. Tarsiers are about 9-16 cm (3.5-6 inches) long, excluding the tail, which is about twice that length. Their fur is thick, silky, and coloured gray to dark brown.

My Little Demon

Ducky Chicken Finger is my kitten. On August 18th he joined our family. When we brought the little stray into our home he was a little, pitiful, flea infested kitten but now that we have had him for about 3 weeks he has shown his true colors to my wife and me. We see that it was all a guise to come into our home and he is actually a demon…but we love him anyways.

At first glance from a distance (and let me emphasize a distance) this kitten looks like any other kitten. He’s small, a little pudgy, and has a curious look in his eyes. He seems to be a happy and healthy kitten. Desipite his appearance, there are a few things about Ducky Chicken Finger that everyone should know:

  1. This kitten has ADHD
  2. This kitten does NOT sleep
  3. This kitten loves to hear the word ‘No’ and will attack you over and over and over and over just to hear the lovely word
  4. This kitten is NOT afraid of the ‘spray bottle’ (our disciplinary tool)
  5. This kitten eats human flesh
  6. This kitten is the spawn of satan

My wife and I have attempted to document his unholy power by the use of digital photos.
