Remember When

Remember when tv was good? Remember when the NES was the hottest thing on the market? When everyone knew the theme song to Gummi Bears and every kid wanted Hungry Hungry Hippos?

I often think back to my childhood and remember when the cartoons were actually worth watching. They were fun, colorful, and generally wholesome. Good times. Remember these: He-Man, Ducktales, Gummi Bears, The Wuzzles, The Smurfs, Shirttales, Teddy Ruxpin, Jem and the Holograms, Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite.

Well, I came across a site (RetroJunk) that allows you to walk down memory lane and view the intros to many of your favorite childhood shows from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s! Cartoons and regular shows…plus it has some retro commercials (including a couple about NES and its games). As my wife and I were perusing the shows/commercials, we found ourselves remembering shows that we had forgotten about completely! There are some obscure ones there (Foofur, Count Duckula, Eureeka’s Castle, Denver the Last Dinosaur, etc :D) Check out the site…its awesome ;)

Once cartoon that I’m bummed that they don’t have on there is the Monchhichi’s…that cartoon is sooo incredibly hard to find information on. It must have been pretty short lived. Anyone else remember that one?

WOW, I remember most of thoes cartoons. The Gummie Bears and the Smufs were some of my favorite cartoons when I was young. But occasionally you can find The Smurfs late at night. Do also remember Fraggle Rock I was crushed when they stopped running that show. Thoes were the days.

  14. “Oh so soft and cuddlely” was the commercial for the stuffed toys. The cartoon was “Way up in the trees lived the Monchichis, monchichi, monchichi. Monchichi mean happiness”

  15. Oh my god, i have spent so many months trying to convince people f the mon chi chis existence. None of my friends could remember them and i was starting to think i had made them up in my own mind. Thank god i haven’t gone insane.

  16. way up in the trees lived the monchichis! I just won ice cream from a student who swore they didn’t exist!

  17. look up in the sky, it’s the monchichi’s (clap clap clap clap) MONNN CHICHI, MONN CHICHI! (only thing remembered from theme song)

  18. […] I find myself convulsing from the sheer excitement I have for this movie. I was a huge Transformers cartoon fan when I was little (remember way back then?) and the toys are still awesome. Causing particular excitement is this (somewhat blurry) shot of a Transformer who I can only assume is Bumblebee: […]

  19. gummi bears look so yummy they just make me hungry looking at them

  20. I am looking for the Munchichis myself. Me and my friend got on a 80s cartoon kick early last week. I found SilverHawks, and the theme song. So Munchichis is next..I will find the theme song to download. Nice page though.

  21. I also remember a lot of the old shows commercials too. I think the song is: munchichi munchichi oh so soft and cuddly put their thumb in their mouth it’s really neat you can play with their little feet fun fun fun fun fun fun munchichi munchichi

  22. I REMEMBER MUNCHICHI’S! I HAD A CREAM COLORED ONE THAT SUCKED ITS THUMB….

  23. […] I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of digging up retro songs and shows from when I was a kid. One cartoon intro […]

  24. Munchichi was a decent cartoon. The one that bums me the most is Pirates of Dark Water. They never finished this cartoon and for those of us who actually watched it we never found out what happened. I’m waiting for them to leave us hanging on avatar next. That seems to be the M.O:(. Thundarr was awsome also, replayed on Boomerang some awhile back.

  25. Myspace Graphics and Backgrounds, Myspace Stuff…

Sorry, it just sounds like a crazy idea for me :)…

  26. the monchhichis were the most disgustingly cute thing to ever exist in our universe. I just got one for my girlfriend’s 1 year old cousin for christmas….and I can’t stop playing with it.

If the Air Force dropped monchhichi dolls instead of bombs, there would be absolute world peace within a month.
