As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of digging up retro songs and shows from when I was a kid. One cartoon intro that has eluded me for years can now be found on YouTube. The cartoon? Monchichis, a show that lasted only a season but one I would watch whenever I could. Due to its obscurity and short-lived life, my mentions about the cartoon amongst friends have often met me with a blank stare. Well…here’s the show’s intro for your viewing enjoyment:

What is pretty cool to note is that Peter Cullen – the voice of Optimus Prime in Transformers (the show and movie) and numerous other Saturday morning cartoon characters – was the voice of 3 of the Grumplins; Shreeker, Snitchitt, Gonker.
Dude, that’s frickin awesome! I too am met with blank stares when I mention many of the cartoons of my youth. You’re one of the few people I’ve mentioned the Monchichis too who knew what it was.
Same here… Damn… I even only remember the show’s name and forget the characters’ name…

This is AWESOME!! I too get the blank stare when I mention this cartoon! I totally have the dolls somewhere in my parents attic! I will have to dig them up!! THANK YOU! This brought back some great childhood memories!! I love it!!
LOL I was looking up the spelling and found your site. My monchichi doll is the only toy I’ve kept since my childhood. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who remembers it.

I love this!!!! People look at me like I am crazy when I mention this cartoon. And if someone does know what I am talking about it is like instant friends. I still have a little figurine on my desk at work.
Yeah! Memorable show from 20+ yrs ago. Geez, i still break into singing the song. HAhahah..
My neice actually found my monchichi girl doll in the attic and loves it! Loved the song and cartoon and enjoyed sharing it with her!
