i disagree say i use minister of impediments (tap it to tap a target creature) and my opponent plays unsummon on it. the unsummon would get resolved before the tapping a target creature would and since my minister of impediments is no longer on the battlefield i could not use his effect. instants can be played at anytime.

I think priority comes into play. On your turn your opponent cannot play instances or abilities until you have done something, like activate an ability (i'm not sure if mana abilities on basic lands apply here, I think they don't but on nonbasic lands they do, and definitely on the mana abilities of your creatures or artifacts), play a spell, or end your turn. If he wants to unsummon your land, i'm pretty sure he has to wait untill you've passed (done nothing and decided to end your main phase) or played a spell, in which case you would get the mana.

Priority works like this: Whoever's turn it is, they are the 'active player'. The active player has priority but passes it temporarily each time he or she does something. Then his or her opponent receives priority (the ability to play spells), so they can play an instant in response to the spell played by the active player. Once they decide what to do, (play an instant or do nothing) priority goes back to the active player and they can play an additional spell to be placed on top of the stack to be resolved before their first one. Usually they do not and the spell resolves. Priority does not give you the ability to play anything you want. Sorceries and Creature spells can only be played on your turn and when nothing is on the stack. Instances and Creatures' activated abilities go on the stack and can be played at any time.

Tapping abilities are put on the stack before anything else happens to the card. Tap abilities always get put on the stack.

ok here's a question that me and my friend always get in a debate about. how does the stack work? if i was to tap a land for mana, then my opponent returns it to my hand, do i still get the mana? related to this if i was to tap a creature for its ability then he uses unsummon on it, do i still get to use the ability? i say its like a bullit and once the trigger is pulled you cant stop it, but he thinks it is prevented because the creature is no longer there hence the trigger was never pulled.
